Virgin America to offer DISH Network
DISH Network has partnered with Virgin American to provide the airline’s primary live in-flight entertainment. Virgin America passengers will be able to view a variety of DISH Network satellite TV programming. Additionally, the airline will offer ‘pay-per-view’ movies, a wide array of audio music including the ability to compile individual audio playlists, a broad selection of popular electronic games and even meals on-demand.
“We are delighted to be part of this innovative airborne entertainment offering,” said EchoStar chairman and CEO Charlie Ergen. “DISH Network is focused on securing and delivering exciting, timely and appealing content to Virgin America guests, as well as our 13 million-plus subscribers throughout the United States.”
Pending government approval, the U.S.-owned and -operated airline, based at San Francisco International Airport, intends to launch scheduled domestic airline service starting in Spring 2007.
